What is Detox water?

Today  I share some wonderful ideas to make Detox water.. They make up for a very good option for summers especially.

Why are detox drinks important...
With summers we tend to feel more thirsty. We know sugary drinks aren’t good for us because they are high in calories, and they don’t really hydrate us all that well. Caffeinated beverages like soda and coffee can actually leave us more dehydrated. So we end up with coconut water, sugarcane juice & lemon water. But the Detox drinks just add extra flavor too the healthy options of water

How to make Detox water...
You can infuse water with any number of herbs, spices, edible flowers, fruit and even vegetables! Here are some ideas:

  • Herbs: Rosemary, thyme, mint, basil, cilantro, parsley
  • Spices: Cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, fresh ginger, cloves, vanilla bean
  • Edible flowers: Rose, lavender, citrus blossoms, hibiscus, pansies, violets (or any that are 100% pesticide free)
  • Fruit: Berries (fresh or frozen), melon, tropical fruits, citrus, apples, pears
  • Vegetables: Cucumber, celery, fennel, carrots
  • Water: Filtered water is great, but if you don’t have a filtration system, tap water is fine too.
Caution
Let the water sit for a few hours to allow the flavors to infuse. The longer it sits, the more flavorful the water will be. Some fruits or herbs will infuse more quickly than others. Citrus is pretty instant. Herbs take a little longer. Berries take a few hours and will also release color into the water. I put the infused water in the fridge immediately after I make it, but it doesn’t hurt to let it sit at room temperature for a little while. However, you should keep it in the fridge or put ice in it if you aren’t planning on using it right away.

So start making your own detox water TODAY!

How do we use the Healing Power of Colours?

From the beginning of the day with Gold yellow colour of sun rays to the silver white of moon. All colours have impact on us. Human body is composed of many colours and lack of any of these colours leads to different disorders. Chromotherapy is a method of treatment of diseases by colour. This helps us make use of colours to heal our body and maintain good health.

The action and effect of various colours on the body and their healing qualities are as follows :

Violet :

Violet is beneficial in the treatment of nervous and emotional disturbances, arthritis, acute cases of consumption and insomnia.

Purple :

Purple or indigo combines the blood-warming red and the cooling antiseptic blue. It is an excellent stimulant without being an irritant. It is beneficial in the treatment of advanced stages of constipation, hydrocle , leucorrhoea, many disorders of the stomach and womb , cataract , migraine and skin disorders. It exerts a soothing effect on the eyes, ears and the nervous system. It helps in curing allergies too.

Blue :

Cool, soothing and sedative, blue alleviates pain, reducing bleeding and heals burns. It is beneficial in the treatment of dysentery, colic, asthma, respiratory disorders, high blood pressure and skin aberrations. IN a study at the New England State Hospital in the United States, 25 members of staff with normal blood pressure were bathed in blue light for half an hour. It resulted in universal fall in blood pressure. The blood pressure rose when red light was applied. Blue helps in headaches, overcoming old beliefs, anger & forgiveness issues. It helps in weight loss too!

Green :

Made up of the blue and yellow, green is regarded as a colour of harmony. It is a mild sedative. It is useful in the treatment of nervous conditions, hay fever, ulcers, influenza, malaria , colds, sexual disorders and cancer. It preserves and strengthens eyesight. Being highly medicinal and depressive, it is of great help in the treatment of inflammatory conditions.

Yellow :

Associated with joy and happiness, yellow is laxative and diuretic. It is a stimulant to the brain, the liver and the spleen. It is also effective in the treatment of diabetes, indigestion, kidney and liver disorders, constipation, eye and throat infections, syphillis and impotence. It helps increase appetite when used with red.

Orange :
Symbolic of prosperity and pride, orange is useful for stimulating blood supply and energising the nerves. It is beneficial in the treatment of kidney and gall stones, hernia and appendicitis. It is also used to stimulate the milk producing action of breasts after childbirth.

Red :
Symbolic of heat, fire and anger. It is a stimulating and energising colour. It stimulates arterial blood and brings warmth to cool extremities. Used as a general tonic, it is very valuable in the treatment of diseases like low blood pressure, rheumatism, paralysis, anaemia and advanced cases of tuberculosis.

Methods of Treatment

These are methods of treating diseases by colour :

  1. By the application of light through different coloured glasses
  2. By external or internal use of colour-charged water.
  3. By external use of colour-charged oils
  4. By using colour tratak / candles / colour breathing technique
  5. By using coloured diet

Here is a short explanation of the 3 main methods...

COLOURED LIGHT

The rays of the sun contain seven different colours -violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. These are natural colours which are highly beneficial to the maintenance of health and for healing diseases. Sunlight plays an important role in the recovery from chronic diseases. Judicious use of sunlight can be part of the curing process in almost every affliction. The rays of the sun improve digestion and nutrition, quicken blood and lymph circulation and increase the elimination of impurities through the skin.

In the first method , sheets of glass, 30 cms. X 36 cms. of the required colours are needed. These are placed at the window frames or any other convenient place in such a way that the sun’s rays can pass through them and fall directly on the patient’s body. The usual duration of the colour treatment is 30 minutes. In case of local application, a pane of glass can be placed in front of the diseased part so that the light passing through the glass falls on the afflicted area. At night lanterns can be used for the purpose. A single lantern can have glass panes of four different colours and the required colour can be focused on the patient or the affected parts.

COLOURED WATER

In the second method, coloured bottles are needed. These bottles should be cleaned and filled up to three-fourths level with fresh well water, distilled water or rain water. The bottles should be corked and then placed in bright sunlight for three to four hours. After this exposure, the water is said to acquire medicinal properties and this colour-charged water can be used both internally and for external applications. Wounds and ulcers can be washed with this water and it can also be used to massage the affected parts or applied as compress on them. For internal use, an adult can take 30 ml. of colour-charged water as a single dose. The dose can be repeated as required.

COLOURED DIET

You can get what your body needs just by eating a colourful variety of fruits and vegetables too!

Nature has found a clever way to highlight the nutrients in foods: different nutrients actually impart different colours to the foods they’re in. For instance, the anthocyanins that turn blueberries blue can also keep your mind sharp, the lycopene that turns watermelon and tomatoes red may also help protect against prostate and breast cancers, and the beta carotene that makes carrots and sweet potatoes orange can help keep your bones strong, your eyes healthy and boost your immune system.

A correct and balanced diet is essential during the treatment of diseases through chromotherapy. The patients should take food items with analogous colouring. The various colours contained in different food items are :

Violet : Egg plant, berries, black carrot and purple grapes.

Purple : Foods having both blue and violet colouring.
Blue : Blue plum, blue beans, blue grapes, etc.
Green : Most of the green vegetables and fruits such as gourds, spinach, plantain, lettuce, pea, green mango, gooseberry, pears, beans , etc.
Yellow : Lime and lemon, sweet lime, grapes, pumpkin, melon, banana, mango, yellow apple and guava.
Orange : Orange-skinned vegetables and fruits such as carrot, orange, apricot, mango, peach and pappaya.
Red : Beets, radish, red cabbage, tomatoes, watercress, most red-skinned fruits, red berries and water melon.

Contraindications

There are some important contraindications to colour treatment which should be borne in mind while adopting this mode of cure.

For instance, the red colour would be injurious in a naturally inflammatory condition of the system, and in case of persons with feverish and excitable temperament. If the red light is employed for too long and frequently, it may produce dangerous fevers. The danger can be obviated by using the red light for a few minutes at a time or by placing a wet bandage over the head.

Similarly, yellow should not be used when the nerves are very active or irritable. Yellow or orange reddish tones may prove injurious in fevers, acute inflammations, delirium, diarrhoea, neuralgia, palpitation of the heart and any condition of over- excitement.

In cases of paralysis, chronic rheumatism, gout, consumption and in all cold, pale and dormant conditions of the system, blue, indigo and violet may prove too cooling and constricting and should be avoided.

What do your stools say about your overall health?

Bristol Stool Chart

Here's a insight from the Bristol Stool Form scale about the different types of stools

Type 1 - Very constipated. Typical for post-antibiotic treatments and for people attempting fiber-free (low-carb) diets. Need to increase water and fiber intake.

Type 2 - Organic constipation - A person experiencing these stools is most likely to suffer from irritable bowel syndrome because of continuous pressure of large stools on the intestinal walls. Adding supplemental fiber to expel these stools is dangerous, because the expanded fiber has no place to go, and may cause hernia, obstruction, or perforation of the small and large intestine alike.

Type 3 - suggests that the defecations are regular. Straining is required due to latent constipation

Type 4 - is normal for someone defecating once daily.

Type 5 - It is typical for a person who has stools twice or three times daily, after major meals.

Type 6 - It is borderline normal as it may be difficult to control the urge, especially when you don‘t have immediate access to a bathroom. It can also indicate a hypersensitive personality prone to stress, too many spices, drinking water with a high mineral content.

Type 7 - This of course, is diarrhea

The Perfect Stool:

One complete elimination in the morning
A brown color
A banana shape
Does not stick to the toilet
Easy to wipe – no mess
Minimal odor
Almost always the same regardless of foods eaten

Imbalanced Stool:

Mucus in the stool (looks like cobwebs wrapping around poop)
Green or yellow stool (not from eating excess green veggies)
Black stool
Greasy or shiny stool
Clay-colored stools
Blood in the stool
Undigested food in the stool

What is regular, anyway?

WebMD says: “Depending on your diet, age, and daily activity, regularity can mean anything from three bowel movements a day to three each week.”

However,  there’s more to good bowel function than just being regular. For example, you should be able to:

Pass a bowel motion within about a minute of sitting down on the toilet. (The bowel usually wants to empty about 30 minutes after a meal (commonly breakfast), but this can vary from person to person.)

Pass a bowel motion easily and without pain – ideally, you shouldn’t be straining on the toilet or struggling to pass a bowel motion which is hard and dry.

Complete evacuation of your bowel- you don’t have to go back to the toilet soon after — to pass more.

What color is the perfect poop?

Brown is best! You knew that, though, right? Some other colors you may see: red, green, yellow, white, and black.

All of these other colors (barring the consumption of foods or medications that would cause a temporary shift, such as beets) could be indicative of something going on in the body that needs to be addressed. Here are some possibilities:

Red could mean lower GI bleeding.
Green could mean Crohn’s Disease.
Yellow could mean gallbladder trouble or parasites.
White could mean liver disease or pancreatic trouble.
Black could mean upper GI bleeding.

12 Tips to Get the Perfect Poop:

1. Chew your food! Shoot for 27 chews per bite, it should be a paste before swallowing.

2. Eat until you are 80% full. Overeating is a massive burden on the digestive system.

3. Remove all sources of gluten from your diet (the most common sources are wheat, barley, rye, spelt and other grains)

4. Eat a diet that includes whole foods, rich in fresh, organic vegetables and fruits that provide good nutrients and fiber; most of your fiber should come from vegetables, not from grains

5. Avoid artificial sweeteners, excess sugar (especially fructose), chemical additives, MSG, excessive amounts of caffeine, and processed foods, as they are all detrimental to your gastrointestinal (and immune) function

6. Boost your intestinal flora by adding naturally fermented foods into your diet, such as sauerkraut, pickles, and kefir (if you tolerate dairy); add a probiotic supplement if you suspect you’re not getting enough beneficial bacteria from your diet alone

7. Try increasing your fiber intake; good options include psyllium and freshly ground organic flax seed (shoot for 50 grams of fiber per 1,000 calories consumed).

8. Make sure you stay well hydrated with fresh, pure water

9. Get plenty of exercise daily. Get a Rebounder (mini trampoline) and bounce for 5-10 minutes daily!

10. Avoid pharmaceutical drugs, such as pain killers that will slow your bowel function. Antidepressants and antibiotics can cause a variety of GI disruptions.

11. Address emotional challenges with tools like EFT, journaling and therapy.

12. Consider squatting instead of sitting to move your bowels. Squatting straightens your rectum, relaxes your puborectalis muscle and encourages the complete emptying of your bowel without straining, and has been scientifically shown to relieve constipation and hemorrhoids. I highly recommend using a Squatty Potty Toilet Stool!

Well there you have it. Inspect your poops daily and use them as an indicator of your overall health and how well you are treating your body!

When to have fruits?

Eating Fruit on Empty Stomach

This will open your eyes ! Read to the end; and then, send it to others on your list as I just did to u!
Dr Stephen Mak treats terminal ill cancer patients by an "un-orthodox" way and many patients recovered.
Before he used solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients, he believes on natural healing in the body against illnesses. See his article below.
It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%.
Cancer patients shouldn't die. The cure for cancer is already found - its in the way we eat fruits.
It is whether you believe it or not.
I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments.

EATING FRUIT
We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths.
It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat the fruits.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!
FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH

If you eat fruits on empty stomach, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.

Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit.
The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so due to the bread taken before the fruit.
In the meantime the whole meal of bread & fruit rots and ferments and turns to acid.
The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.
So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals !

You have heard people complaining :
Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc.. etc..
Actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach
The fruit mixes with the putrefying of other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat !
Greying hair, balding, nervous outburst and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter.

If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the  SECRET of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.
When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only  fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans, packs or bottles.
Don't even drink juice that has been heated up.
Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all.
You only get its taste.
Cooking destroys all the vitamins.
But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice.
If you should drink the fresh fruit juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.

You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse or detoxify your body.
Just eat fruits and drink fresh fruit juice throughout the 3 days.
And you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look !

KIWI fruit:
Tiny but mighty.
This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE:
An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY:
Protective Fruit.
Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging and free radicals.

ORANGE :
Sweetest medicine.
Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON:
Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system.
They are also a key source of lycopene the cancer fighting oxidant.
Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA:
Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.
Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation.
Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

REMEMBER
Avoid having fruits during the major meals (Lunch/dinner). Fruits are a source of sugar/energy. We mostly take carbohydrates during our lunch and dinner in the form of chapati/ veggies/ rice etc. These carbs are ultimately converted into sugar in the body, which is utilized for energy purpose. If we consume fruits as well, the excess sugar from fruits has higher chances of going into fat storage. Thus, it's best to avoid them during lunch/dinner. Here's the reason why we have to avoid fruits post sunset- Our activity levels tend to drop as the day ends. Fruits are a natural source of sugar. We need this sugar during the day when our activity levels are high, and this sugar gets utilized. After 6 or 7 pm, we have dinner already lined up plus we go low on activities, thus the extra sugar from fruits have high chances of going into fat storage. Fruits are always a good snacking option in the mid-morning or during the teatime.

What makes lemos so useful?

🍋🍋🍋What makes lemons so useful?🍋🍋🍋

Lemons are a versatile, natural option for cleaning, beauty, cooking and much more. Not only do they smell and taste great, but they possess antibacterial properties making them perfect for killing germs. Their low pH makes them perfect for beauty and personal care, and when applied directly to skin, lemon juice can lighten age and sun spots. Lemons have a high concentration of citric acid, which is great for general disinfecting and cleaning. The citric acid in lemons can help kill bacteria and mold, and also remove soap scum and mineral deposits.

🍊25 Uses for Leftover Lemon Peels🍊

🍋1. Clean sinks and bathtubs
Sprinkle baking soda into a wet sink or bathtub, and use the cut side of a lemon to scrub these surfaces. This method will remove grime, act as a lemony “bleach,” and make sinks and bathtubs shine.

🍋2. Make dishes sparkle
Lemon not only acts as a degreaser, but the citric acid found in lemon also helps remove spots from dishes. Throw lemon rinds with the pulp into your dish water to help remove grease and make glasses and silverware sparkle.

🍋3. Remove grease or underarm stains on clothing
If you have half a lemon that has been squeezed, there will still be enough lemon juice in the remaining pulp to remove stains. Rub the half lemon on grease or underarm stains on garments. Allow it to sit overnight. For tough stains, sprinkle a bit of baking soda over the lemon-soaked stain and scrub, then wash as usual.

🍋4. Clean coffee pots
The acid in lemons works to dissolve hard water deposits and burnt coffee stains from your coffee pots. To a cool coffee pot, add lemon rinds, a few tablespoons of salt (as a mild abrasive), and a cup or two of ice. Swirl ingredients around in the coffee pot for several minutes, or until stains are completely removed. If stains are stubborn, leave the mixture in the coffee pot and soak for several hours or overnight. Rinse coffee pot well before using again.

🍋5. Clean soap scum and hard water stains on shower doors
Hard water stains are due to minerals in water, and soap scum is the result of the minerals in your water reacting with your soap. We already know from the coffee pot trick that lemon works great for removing this buildup. Take half a lemon rind with pulp intact, sprinkle salt inside it if desired, and rub directly on shower doors. Rinse well when finished.

🍋6. Make an all-purpose cleaner
This is one of the simplest ways to use your leftover lemon peels. Add the peels of several lemons to a large jar, and fill with white distilled vinegar. Allow the solution to “steep” in a cabinet for a few weeks. Strain out the peels, and use the vinegar solution as a great lemon-scented all-purpose cleaner…perfect for de-greasing, disinfecting, and leaving things smelling fresh. Add the citrus-infused vinegar to a spray bottle and use to clean countertops, sinks, toilets, spills, stovetops, or other surfaces.

🍋7. Refresh and sanitize cutting boards
Lemon does a nice job of eliminating odors that are trapped in your cutting boards (like garlic and onion!). It also sanitizes boards due to its antibacterial properties. Take half a squeezed lemon with pulp intact, and rub vigorously over a cutting board that has been sprinkled with a coarsely ground salt (like kosher salt). Rinse well and allow to dry.

🍋8. Remove odors from hands
If you have lingering odors on your hands from chopping things like garlic or onions, rub lemon rinds on your fingers, nails, and hands to leave them smelling fresh again.

🍋9. Deodorize garbage disposals
Smelly garbage disposals can be freshened up with leftover lemon rinds. (I’m always careful to put smaller chunks down the disposal so it doesn’t clog.) Simply drop rinds down the disposal with a few ice cubes and run the disposal.

🍋10. Clean your microwave and stovetop
Put one or two lemon halves, that have already been squeezed, into the microwave for about 15-20 seconds. Carefully remove the lemon halves and use them to clean the inside of the microwave, as well as the stovetop and the range hood. Rub lemon halves onto surfaces, then wipe clean with a wet dish cloth.

🍋11. Remove rust stains
The acid in lemons helps remove rust stains. This can be helpful in showers where shaving cream cans have left a rust ring, or sinks where iron pots have been left. Sprinkle salt on the rust stain and rub with half of a lemon that still has pulp inside. Allow the salt and lemon to sit for several hours, scrubbing periodically if needed. Allow the lemon to rest on the surface overnight if the stain has not yet disappeared, then rinse well with water.

🍋12. Whiten teeth
The acid content in citrus rinds can whiten and brighten dull or stained teeth. Rub the inner white part of the lemon peel on your teeth for a few minutes for a whitening effect. Rinse well with water after using the citrus peels. I love this remedy because you will notice almost immediate whitening effects! Note: Use this remedy very sparingly to avoid damage to tooth enamel or tooth sensitivity.

🍋13. Citrus Vinegar Hair Rinse
Vinegar makes a wonderful conditioning hair rinse, whether you’re using homemade no-poo, or just want shiny, healthy, pH balanced hair. The addition of lemon to your homemade conditioning rinse will help keep a greasy scalp and hair under control, while improving dull hair and resolving many scalp issues. Add the peels of several lemons to a jar, and fill almost to the top with apple cider vinegar (we use this kind). Allow it to sit for 1-2 weeks and strain out peels. Add about 1 tablespoon of this citrus vinegar solution to 1 cup of water, and use as a conditioning rinse after shampooing. Allow the rinse to remain on hair for a few minutes, then rinse out or just leave in.

🍋14. Lemon facials for toning and skin brightening
Lemon’s low pH makes it a perfect skin toner. You can rub the inside of a juiced lemon directly onto sun spots and age spots to lighten them. Just allow the juice to dry on skin, or rinse off after 15-20 minutes. Repeat every day. You can also use the inside of a juiced lemon as the first step in a luxurious skin-brightening facial. Rub the inside of the lemon all over your face, then apply a honey mask on top of that. Rinse off after 20-30 minutes.

🍋15. Smooth and soothe dry, scaly elbows
This is the perfect trick for softening elbows that are dry and scaly from winter weather. After juicing a lemon, take the two halves (with pulp intact) and sprinkle baking soda inside them. Stick elbow inside lemon half, twisting and turning the lemon on your elbow to exfoliate and soften. Optionally, you can then set lemon halves on a tabletop and rest elbows in them for several minutes before rinsing and drying your newly softened elbows.

🍋16. Make your own Vitamin C powder
Since the rinds of citrus fruits contains high levels of Vitamin C, you can make your own Vitamin C powder with lemon peels. Dry peels on parchment paper, in a 200° oven, or a dehydrator until completely dry. Grind into a powder using a spice grinder like this. Use this Vitamin C powder in your homemade Anti-Aging Facial Toner!

🍋17. Freeze lemon peels for recipes
You can freeze your rinds (or even whole lemons) and use them in recipes calling for lemon zest. You can also zest your fresh lemonsbefore using them, and store the lemon zest in the freezer. Store flat in a zip-top baggie so it’s easier to break off a chunk of frozen lemon zest. Allow to thaw before adding to recipes. Add small amounts to foods, smoothies, or desserts for a bold flavor.

🍋18. Dry lemon peels for recipes
Cut rind into strips and dry on parchment paper, in a 200° oven, or in a dehydrator. When completely dry, store in glass jars and label. Use in baked goods, tea, or other recipes.

🍋19. Candied lemon peels
Although I’ve never tried this one, they sound delicious. I see candied lemon peels on top of gourmet desserts in some of my favorite bakeries and cafes. Make your own using the instructions found here.

🍋20. Homemade lemon pepper
Lemon pepper chicken used to be one of my favorite dishes. But it required I buy a special bottle of lemon pepper to season with. Well, one thing I’ve learned in the wonderful world of DIY-ing is that you can make your own. Simply dry lemon peels on parchment paper, in a 200° oven, or in a dehydrator. Once dry, chop into smaller pieces and add to a grinder with whole peppercornsand coarse sea salt. You’ve just made a delicious seasoning for your next dinner!

🍋21. Burn lemon peels for fragrance
Toss your leftover fresh or dried lemon peels in your fireplace or wood burning stove to add a delicious lemony scent to a room. Dried peels will help ignite the wood around them because they contain oils that make them burn longer.

🍋22. Air freshener
If you don’t have a fireplace, you can simmer lemon peels on the stove top. In a medium sized pot, combine lemon peels with vanilla, cinnamon sticks, and water. Simmer over low, periodically adding more water when needed.

🍋23. Deter cats
Citrus is a known cat repellent. If you want to keep cats out of a garden or indoor plants, you can scatter your lemon peels around or mulch the surface of your soil with citrus peels. Keep cats off countertops or shelves by placing your lemon peels in small bowls on these surfaces. Spray your citrus/vinegar cleaner on rugs or around doorways of rooms you want your cats to stay out of.

🍋24. Deodorize garbage cans
If your garbage cans are starting to smell funky, you can put lemon peels in the bottom of the can underneath your garbage can liner. (Do not add lemon rinds with the pulp, or they will start to mold.) Replace every few weeks to keep garbage cans smelling fresh.

🍋25. Start seeds indoors
If you have lemons that were cut in half and juiced, you can use those lemon “cups” to start seeds indoors. Poke a few holes in the bottom of the lemon if desired (for drainage), fill the lemon halves with soil, and plant your tiny seeds in them. This entire lemon cup can be planted outdoors in the spring.

What is bloating and which foods help reduce it?

If your food does not digest well, bacteria in the small intestines produce gasses that can bloat you up like a balloon and make you feel extremely uncomfortable. Here are some easy to do remedies to fight the bloat and some foods that naturally help eliminate excess gas.

Bananas and potassium rich foods

Nuts - Unsalted almonds and pistachios

Asparagus

Mango

Do not chew gum or drink liquids quickly, as you take in a lot of air which also causes bloating

Do not talk while eating. You don't want to take in excess air.

If you tend to get bloated before and after your periods, take a 1000 - 1200mg calcium before and after for 2-3 days.

No aerated drinks.

Do not over eat or eat fast.

Low sodium diet. Chinese foods and packaged foods rich in sodium cause heavy bloating.( consume lemon water post a heavy meal if you couldn't resist it)

Consume low fat yogurt or a probiotic to ease the bloat.

Exercise. A 30 minute walk will make you feel better for sure.

Sip on peppermint tea or even better, fresh ginger tea.

Freshly squeezed lemon water with a dash of pure cinnamon powder

Foods like kidney beans ( rajma) channa/garbanzo beans, lima, pinto beans are usually avoided by people, because it makes them feel gassy.

These highly nutritious protein and fiber rich foods are great weight loss foods and it's true that they do cause gas, but you can eliminate the same by soaking it in warm water and then cold for 24 hours and cooking the beans with some spice, that negates the effect of gas formation ( hing, pepper, cumin, nutmeg, etc)
